It has come to my attention that many people associate cardinals with departed loved ones checking in on them. What an incredibly beautiful sentiment for such a striking little bird. Cardinals were the first bird I learned to identify after robins, and they were the first bird whose call I learned. It’s hard not to feel a bit of wonder when looking at them. As much as I love their plumage, both male and female, it’s their choppy triangle orange beaks that characterize them the most for me. And their pointy paintbrush heads.
Something about stained glass with light shining through it automatically played into the ethereal realm well. It was an experiment but luckily a successful one!
Every painting is sealed with either resin or gloss spray.
